For far too long, women were expected to know their place. And too often, that place was anywhere but at the table where the real decisions were being made.
Government. Business. Media. Film.
The institutions shaping culture were largely dominated by men, while women—particularly women of color—were frequently expected to watch from the sidelines, accept the decisions being made, and be grateful when someone finally cracked open the door.
The proverbial “good old boys’ club” wasn’t just running the show. They were deciding who got to be seen, who got to be heard, and whose story mattered. But something has shifted.
Across media, film, fashion, sports, business, diplomacy, and other influential arenas, women are walking through doors that once seemed permanently closed. We are leading organizations, producing films, shaping media narratives, building businesses, entering boardrooms, and occupying positions capable of changing what the world sees and hears.
And women are discovering something powerful along the way:
